Ranka Javor - editor

Born in 1953 in Zagreb. Graduated comparative literature and history of arts from the Faculty of Arts and Letters in Zagreb. Has been employed in the Zagreb City Library managing the Croatian Center for Children’s Book.

Over twenty two years of work involved with librarianship, she has been concerned with children’s library and children’s books. Having graduated the history of art and illustration of children’s book in particular, all these years she has closely followed the publishing trade for children and the young people. She has been in charge of special collection of literature, so called Protected Children’s Library Holdings that comprises regular production of the Croatian children’s books, publication of Croatian classics, the collection of picture books and illustrated books, as well as professional publication on children’s literature. In the Croation Center for Children’s Book which is also the section of IBBY (International Board on Book for Young People), she has worked on international cooperation and the promotion of Croatian authors abroad.

In collaboration with publishers, she has organized the presentations of new books. For some of the publishers she was engaged to write forewords, to be the reviewer and editor, as well as the member of the jury awarding prizes.
